In the Media – I was recently featured on The Image Takers blog.

In her words: 5mins with Anna Mac of Andie Kids

14 July 2018

I am beyond excited to be featured over on  The Image Takers recent blog post. Based in Melbourne, Simone and Clare run The Image Takers, an art direction, photography and video studio specialising in commercial imagery. I worked with them along with my family, styling and featuring in one of their campaigns (see image below).

Interview…

You’ve seen this gorgeous face around, right?

She may be a professional clothes horse but don’t be fooled cos this one ain’t just a pretty face. This clever gal is also a fashion stylist and can now add children’s fashion designer to her long list of accomplishments.

Hey y’all, we’d like to introduce you to the one and only Anna Mac!

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with Anna both in front of and behind the camera over the years and she is an absolute treasure. Anna modelled for our Australia Post Christmas campaign last year where she also doubled as stylist for the campaign. Nothing was too hard for this country-reared lass and we find any opportunity we can to collaborate with her.

It was during this shoot last year that Anna mentioned her plans to launch her own children’s label with her biz partner Steph.
At the time Anna confided that the label was to be called Andie Kids and we spoke at length about how this could work.

Fast forward a few months and we find ourselves on set shooting the cutest kids in the cutest little outfits.

Anna is mum to two small boys and in amongst her busy schedule, we managed to snaffle five minutes with her.

“I love being a fashion stylist because I get to work with some amazing people and play “dress ups” all day! I get to be creative and fully immerse myself in the latest trends and be introduced to some incredible brands. This job doesn’t feel like work to me and I pinch myself I get paid to do it.

The competition is fierce, and keeping up with the latest trends is hard. The challenge for smaller boutiques is to compete with large chains who can work from large volumes and bring you fashion for much less.

I have many, many fashion favourites in my wardrobe. We’re in the thick of winter and my black leather jacket from Scanlan Theodore is on high rotation. I live in sneakers when with my boys and are currently getting great use out of my Golden Goose pair. My newest purchase is my basic Anine Bing tee. I can wear it during the day with jeans and flats but it’s also one of those pieces that goes into the night with some heels.

Andie Kids is our baby and the range is designed and produced in Melbourne. We are passionate about keeping this a Melbourne label, so we were surprised by how challenging it was to find materials and people to work with in Australia so we could achieve our aim of keeping production on-shore. In saying that, we were new and hadn’t fully anticipated how much work was required to start up a business… Working with young kids at home, losing a roll of fabric an so on… we have hit a few little speed bumps along the way!

When it comes to kid’s clothing I am drawn to soft, good quality pieces that are cool and comfy. Simple pieces that can be worn everyday and allow kids to just be kids.
